At the center of this mystery is Tankhun Rongsompong, a criminologist who claims to have waited ten years for Botpleng’s return. While Tankhun presents himself as a devoted lover, his clinical precision and status within the Criminal Investigation Department suggest a more calculated agenda.
The narrative is anchored by the recurring motif of Canon in D, a melody that links Botpleng’s fragmented childhood memories to a present-day trauma. This musical ‘time signature’ serves as a trigger for an execution-style dream sequence in which Botpleng witnesses Tankhun being shot—a vision that poses the episode’s central question: Is Tankhun a potential victim or a master manipulator?
As the investigation into the caretaker’s death unfolds, cracks appear in Tankhun’s facade. His preemptive attempts to establish alibis and his subtle control over Botpleng’s environment hint at a possessive obsession disguised as protection. The episode culminates in a chilling realization for Botpleng; as his friend Muenmile warns him of the dangers surrounding his reunion, a second murder is reported, cementing the fact that Botpleng’s quest for his lost identity has made him a target. By the end of the premiere, the romantic tension is inseparable from the growing dread that the man Botpleng is falling for may be the architect of his suffering.
